More and more couples planning to get married
want to ship into the harbour of marriage in a maritime atmosphere.
What is more fitting than a wedding on a lightship? After the motto:
"Nothing is impossible" - marriage is possible on five lightships
in Germany and on one lightship in England at present. A lighthsip
wedding has something symbolic: Lightships, that guided the ships
the right way in wind and weathers through the shoals of the sea for
so many years, ought to also be probably be the ideal guardians for
young couples... A wedding on a lightship is possible at present in: |
Heiligenhafen
(Germany)Lightship "Fehmarnbelt"
A very good chance to celebrate a summer lightship wedding is the German lightship FEHMARNBELT, which is visiting Heiligenhafen every July.

Two, that "dared"
Since yesterday the registry office at Kiel-Heikendorf has an unusual branch in the Möltenorter harbour. For the first time, registrar Martina Meyer presided over the wedding of Friederike and Ulrich Hosch on the "Laesoe Rende", the former Danish lightship and present-day floating club home of the Heikendorfer yacht club. "Now, the ship is a location for weddings permanently " Martina Meyer said. The community hopes that further couples will use this lovely place to get married in the future. Friederike Hosch was born in Heikendorf and currently lives with her husband in Leutkirch (Bavaria). She was enthusiastic after the ceremony. "If I marry at all, then on a ship", the 29-year old had planned earlier. That it had worked out in her home community pleased her and her husband "totally".
