The history of the
light vessels of France written in French with a summary in English.
This documentation introduces the lightships of the French coast from
Flanders as far as to the Gironde estuary. It describes the history
and development of the floating lighthouses from the beginnings in 1845
until the end of this era in 1989. A section devotes itself to the personnel
and the conditions of live on board. All ships are introduced more or
less extensively in text and picture. The text is supported by an extensive
illustration. Beside the French text, there is a summary in English
language. Also a time table is in the appendix to be found to the business
of the stations and use of the ships beside a sources and literature
table. Size: 21 x 27 cm, 96 sides, carton cover, appeared in November
