This time I am planing and building a model of the lighthsip ELBE 1. Why exactly this ship? It was the first lightship that crossed my path. I was so impressed by this ship and this kind of ship that only the Elbe 1 could be the next ship to be built. I would like to show the individual steps of construction to you on this webpage. Normally it takes me two or three years to build a ship model. The construction is planned in the scale of 1:25. This means a length of over 2 meters.

I started with the construction of the lantern mast. The visible xenon lamp is driven by a tension of 400V. However, her advantage is, that the heat emission is relatively low. Nevertheless, a temperature sensor, which switches off the lamp at 40° C, is beside the lamp.

Here, the substructure of the gallery metals is installed. Also the ventilation tabs already were glued on.

The gallery metals, made from etched brass sheet, are well visible here. The handrail is also already installed.

This shows the substructure of the platform. To protect the glass against contamination it had been covered with a piece of paper.

The lantern mast will be visible up to the white ring later. The low part already has the steps, which extend to half of the mast.

The fence was installed. Thanks to the company Haberl.

The bottom is made of brass. The perforation and the screens at the upper side are hand made.

A look at the top - only the lamp and the Fresnel lens are missing now.
