Danish lightships |

The first Danish lighthsip
was stationed at Laesoe Trindel in July 1829.
All in all, the Danish Lights and Buoys Service commissioned 25 lightships
from 1829 to 1988,
which over the years have seen service at some 20 stations around the Danish
coast.
The last lighthsip has been taken out of service in December 1988.
The lighthsips did not have names, but were identified in the register of shipping by a roman numeral.
It was only when the ship was assigned to a particular station, that it was given the name of the station,
which was painted in black letters on the side before the ship left the harbour.With the exception of Lightship No. 7, which was built of iron,
the Danish lightships were all robust wooden ships, built of oak and all of them were built in Denmark.
